Lady T's 10 Tips to
Making the Holiday Season Memorable

In the urban community, the holidays are a time for family and friends. From spending time with loved ones, to watching the Christmas day game, the tradition of the holidays invokes great memories of laughter and great food for many. If you are the host for Christmas this year, don't let the current economic climate detour you. You can create lasting holiday memories with proper planning and a little creativity.

Make this holiday season a new family tradition.

1. Communicate three days before holiday dinner to make sure you have an accurate count of guests.
2. Purchase small items a little at a time so you will only have to purchase the meat a few days before your planned dinner.
3. Don't try and cook a new meal for the first time. Make sure you have practiced your dish before you try it on the rest of the family.
4. Call or send a card to family and friends and wish them happy holidays.
5. Create small place cards for the table using festive paper to make guests feel welcomed.
6. Clean as you go. If you wait until the end, the dishes will be pilled to the ceiling and you won't feel much like being a gracious host.
7. Don't invite ex's who are still feuding. The holidays should be peaceful and drama free.
8. Don't overspend. Create a secret Santa program within the family so no one feels left out or financially overwhelmed.
9. Burn cinnamon, sugar cookie and sweet potato scented candles. They fill the room with the aroma of the holidays.
10. Be happy. If you have made it to the end of the year, you are blessed. There are many who didn't.

BONUS: Play holiday music throughout your home. It will get you in the holiday spirit and keep the beauty and tradition of Christmas alive in your family.
